Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 just launched the brand-new Urzikstan battle royale map this week, but a report from an industry insider claims the popular Verdansk map will return to Warzone by the end of 2024.
Verdansk served as the very first Warzone map when the battle royale launched in March 2020, and an Insider Gaming report from Tom Henderson suggests that the map could be set to return with the release of next year’s premium title.
According to the report, Verdansk will be the map arriving with the first season of Call of Duty 2024 and the game’s integration into Warzone. Henderson suggests this will be Black Ops Gulf War, which backs up a previous report from Windows Central suggesting the entry will be developed by Treyarch and set in the Gulf War as part of the Black Ops series.
Activision has previously confirmed Warzone’s popular Resurgence maps Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep will return sometime in 2024, so if this leak proves to be true, players could experience a plethora of nostalgia starting next year. Verdansk’s return doesn’t seem far-fetched, especially after the massive popularity of Fortnite’s OG Chapter 1 map return.
For more Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone are gearing up for a winter holiday event in Season 1. The upcoming update will add holiday-themed maps, LTMs, Undead Santa, and a seasonal event.
