Marvel’s Midnight Suns Digital Plus edition is this month’s top pick. This turn-based tactics game is set in the Marvel universe and features a large roster of playable characters, including fan favorites like Spider-Man and Wolverine, alongside lesser-known heroes like Nico Minoru and Magik. The game comes from the strategy masterminds at Firaxis, the same studio behind the excellent XCOM series, so it’s worth playing even if you’re not a Marvel fan. In GameSpot’s Marvel Midnight Suns review, writer Jordan Ramée scored the game 8/10, calling it a “rewardingly tactical experience, with a deckbuilding card system ensuring that randomness challenges the player, not frustrates them,” and praised the mission variety and large cast. The Digital Plus version includes 11 bonus character skins. Humble Choice members also get the Doctor Strange Defenders Skin DLC as a free bonus.
If Marvel’s Midnight Suns isn’t enough strategic card-slinging for you, there’s also Roguebook–which, if you couldn’t tell from the title, is a roguelike deckbuilding RPG. There are a lot of games like this out there, but Roguebook is notable for being co-created by Magic: The Gathering’s designer, Richard Garfield.
Not in the mood for turn-based combat? No worries. Humble Choice members also get a few action titles this month, including the top-down shooter OTXO (pronounced “oh-cho”), the third-person stealth-action game Aragami 2, and the crude and violent 3D platformer Hell Pie.
Finally, the University management sim Two Point Campus, the story-rich arctic survival game The Red Lantern, and the supernatural adventure Twin Mirror round out this month’s lineup.
Humble Choice subscribers can download the game now from Humble’s online store. If you’re not a member yet, you can join Humble Choice for just $12/month and get immediate access to this month’s games. These games are free to keep even if you cancel your membership.
Humble Choice members also get other perks like exclusive Humble store discounts and access to the Humble Games Collection, which features a rotating library of even more games you can play at no additional charge–though, unlike the Humble Choice games, these are only accessible while your subscription is active. Like Humble’s bundle deals, there’s a charitable component to Humble Choice memberships. This month, Humble is donating 5% of Choice membership fees to Hello World, which provides internet access and education to underserved communities.
