If you’d prefer something more thought-provoking, A Space for the Unbound is a fascinating slice-of-life adventure game with beautiful pixel art set in the late ’90s of rural Indonesia. The game tells the story of overcoming anxiety, dealing with depression, and the relationship of a boy and a girl with supernatural powers.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is pure metroidvania magic crafted in the gothic dark fantasy style of Castlevania. It was produced by Koji Igarashi, a former development lead on the Castlevania series. If you’re a Castlevania fan, Bloodstained is a spiritual successor that’s worth your time. You can also pick up Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, a collection of six classic Capcom games from the GBA and DS era: Mega Man Zero 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as Mega Man ZX, and ZX Advent.
Other highlights include the baseball-inspired platformer Bat Boy, Shantae and the Seven Sirens, and Nexomon: Extinction, an RPG heavily inspired by Pokemon.
