Super Mario-Themed Nintendo Switch OLED Drops To Best Price Yet At Amazon

The Mario Red Nintendo Switch OLED is available for only $295 at Amazon. This special-edition console launched last holiday season for $350 and has largely been unavailable to purchase at major retailers throughout 2024. Amazon restocked the eye-catching all-red system last week, but its current $295 price is the best yet. It’s also the lowest-priced Switch OLED up for grabs right now in general. Amazon has the Switch OLED with white Joy-Con controllers for $309. Meanwhile, the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch OLED is available once again for retail price ($360).

The OLED screen is a noticeable improvement over the LCD screens on the base model Switch and handheld-only Switch Lite. Along with offering a nicer visual experience in handheld mode, the Switch OLED has a longer battery life, a wider, improved dock with an ethernet port, and a significantly better kickstand for tabletop mode.

If you’re upgrading from the regular Switch or want a handheld experience that more closely aligns with modern controllers, we’d recommend checking out Satisfye’s ZenGrip Ronin, which drastically improves the ergonomics of the Joy-Con controllers. Alternatively, you can ditch the Joy-Cons altogether in favor of a third-party controller attachment like the Nitro Deck, which adds remappable back buttons, Hall Effect analog sticks, larger buttons/triggers, and a conventional D-pad. The Nitro Deck is available in an assortment of cool designs, including one that looks like a Super Nintendo controller. Or you can stick with red by opting for this discounted translucent red Nitro Deck that comes with a custom carrying case.

If you want to pair the Mario Red Switch OLED with a game featuring the famous plumber, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is available for $46 (was $60) at Walmart. You can create your own side-scrolling stages in Super Mario Maker 2, which is down to $40 (was $60). For role-playing game fans, Super Mario RPG is up for grabs for $40 and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is $53 (both are normally $60).

It’s also worth noting that the Hyrule Edition Switch Lite releases this week. The gold Zelda-themed console launches alongside the latest game in the Zelda series, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Preorders at Best Buy come with an exclusive acrylic scene display.

Nintendo also recently unveiled new Mario Kart Switch bundles will launch in October. The bundles will include either a standard Nintendo Switch with red and blue Joy-Con, or a Switch OLED model with white Joy-Cons, plus a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a 12-month subscription card for Nintendo Switch Online (normally $4/month). Nintendo Switch Online lets you play a huge selection of games online–including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe–and gets you access to a huge library of classic NES, SNES, and GameBoy games. The exact release date for the bundles has yet to be revealed, but Nintendo confirmed standard Switch plus Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle will cost $300, while the Switch OLED bundle will be available for $350.

Beyond the new Zelda game, there are multiple other Switch exclusives to look forward to in the coming months, including Mario Party Jamboree on October 17 and Mario & Luigi: Brothership on November 7. And while it’s possible Nintendo will unveil a new Switch successor console in the near future, there are still numerous notable Nintendo Switch exclusives planned for 2025–plus an awesome back catalog–that make grabbing the console worth it, including Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which are all slated for 2025.
