Nintendo has confirmed that it’ll hold a June Nintendo Direct once again this year, but don’t expect to see a teaser for the Switch 2 during this livestream. On X/Twitter, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed the showcase and how it’ll be focused on titles arriving for the Switch in the latter half of 2024.
“We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation,” Shuntaro posted.
While a look at the Switch successor is off the table, this Nintendo Direct will at least give owners of the current console a closer look at the games coming to the system. Currently, Nintendo’s lineup includes remasters of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (May 23) and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (June 27), and April’s Nintendo Indie World showcase had games like Steamworld Heist 2, Europa, and Antonblast confirmed to launch later in the year.
Then there are the other highly anticipated titles arriving in 2025, like Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam. Nintendo has also confirmed that it’ll officially announce its Switch successor console within its current fiscal year, so a reveal should arrive by March 31, 2025, at the very latest.
